FROM ATHENS TO NAFPLION

The moonlight, bright
And white as snow,
Entered my window that night,
My eyes with sparkles were aglow.
Then, with powerful vibes, it appeared,
A huge lit-up circle,
With a face, on it, love smeared,
Looking at me with eyes ever too regal.
I could not but fall in love,
With a soul so full of sweet accord.
Days passed and he began showing no signs of,
His glowing face or amorous concord.
First half and then full,
He disappeared, leaving his swain.
Torn apart from within, I puled,
And so did Psyche lose Eros, their love gone in vain.
Somewhere from a dark corner,
He again appeared, throwing light
Inside my window, a real charmer
Came to win me over, with all his might.
With eyes all wet
And soul so gay
I realized, he wasn’t beset
With unfair tricks to have me betrayed.
So did Psyche win over Eros,
And Selene find bliss in seeing Endymion.
So did the moon, unlike any human,
Stay with me from Athens to Nafplion.
